Artist's Description
A collection of six different Oklahoma tax tokens is displayed, each with unique text and numerical values. They are reminiscent of coinage but specify purposes like "Sales Tax" and "Old Age Assistance," suggesting their use for specific state tax systems. Metal was used prior to WW2, but shortages required use of plastic and paper during war time years.
About T Guy Spencer
Sarasota-based T Guy Spencer has held a strong interest in the visual arts for more than sixty years. He was engaged in motion picture exhibition in the Boston area and subsequently opened a retail photography studio and color laboratories serving the general public in Sudbury and Walpole, Massachusetts. Retired from business, he enjoys capturing the beauty and wonder of nature in digital files. He uses a Canon camera in the "ultra zoom" series, currently using a SX60hs.
